In his upcoming memoir titled ‘Barry Sonnenfeld Call Your Mother’, the ‘Men in Black’ director reveals that his sexual abuser was an adult cousin who also targeted other young family members.

AceShowbiz – “Men in Black” director Barry Sonnenfeld has opened up on the sexual abuse he was subjected to as a child.

The star details being molested by a family member, and claims his parents knew what was going on, in his upcoming memoir “Barry Sonnenfeld Call Your Mother”, revealing the perpetrator was an adult cousin who also targeted other young family members.

He alleges when he opened up to his dad about being molested by the cousin, whom he refers to as C.M. the C.M., or Cousin Mike the Child Molester, he was horrified as his father told him, “Child molestation didn’t have the same stigma back then… I never thought Mike was molesting you. I only thought he was playing with your penis,” according to the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six.

“What kind of parent allows a man to touch his son’s penis?” he recalls of his response. “My entire life I had convinced myself that my parents, flawed as they were, loved me. Surely they hadn’t understood the full extent of Mike’s torturous abuse. But I was wrong. They knew… My mother, father and C.M. the C.M. should have been jailed.”

He goes on to remember a time his late mother Kelly, whom he describes as a narcissistic alcoholic, invited him, his girlfriend and her two young daughters over for dinner, and casually informed him that Cousin Mike, who is now deceased, would also be there.

When Barry refused to come, his mother assured him that, “I’ll police Mike,” before later telling him, “Barry, back then child molesting didn’t have the stigma it has now.”

“Barry Sonnenfeld Call Your Mother”, the title of which refers to an incident in which his mother commandeered the speaker system at a Jimi Hendrix gig to order him to phone home, comes out on 10 March.
