AceShowbiz – The death of comedian Drew Carey‘s ex-fiancee has officially been ruled a homicide.
Dr. Amie Harwick was believed to have fallen to her death from a Los Angeles balcony on Saturday (February 15) after being attacked by ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse.
He has since been arrested for murder and held on $2 million (£1.5 million) bail, and on Tuesday, authorities released the results of Harwick’s autopsy.
Coroners at the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office ruled the 38-year-old died of blunt force injuries to her head and torso, while “evidence of manual strangulation” was also noted, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news emerges as it’s revealed Harwick had previously obtained two restraining orders against Pursehouse.
She first obtained temporary legal protection in June, 2011, accusing Pursehouse of pushing her out of a car and leaving her on the side of a freeway following a heated argument, just weeks after he allegedly assaulted her.
Harwick, a sex and family therapist, was then granted a three-year restraining order in 2012, after claiming her ex had been harassing her, including reportedly breaking into her apartment and smashing her photo frames, and sending threatening emails to her friends. That order expired in April, 2015, according to TMZ.
She went on to date “The Price Is Right” host Carey in 2017, and they became engaged in 2018, before deciding to amicably part ways months later.
